The Missing Link Festival

Why?

The Missing Link Festival is all about bridging the gap between the emerging and professional artists in Perth, and creating connectivity between artists, art forms and audience.

“There are two things I want to see happen through the festival. Firstly to create an avenue for emerging artists to get their work exposed, receive some income for their artwork and be inspired by their peers. Secondly to cross-polinate our audiences, I want poets coming to the film screening, thespians in the art gallery, musicians and film makers seeing hybrid performance.

If you’ve ever taken on a solo project and poured all your energy, time and thought into it you could probably relate to what it’s like to be a solo artist. It’s daunting. I’ve heard the oppinion that the arts in Perth is not an industry, I tend to agree. Every artist is like a business man / woman where your name is the brand, but many artists find it difficult to market themself.

I’m interested in an art scene that’s easily accessible, inclusive and in which the audiences and practitioners are united.”

-Creative Director, Thomas Kelly

The Missing Link Festival is a non for profit youth organised event.

A special thanks to Drug Aware, the Town of Vincent, FTI, ECU and Amber and Anjay from Artrage  for making this festival possible.

Yes! I am the first one to leave a comment! (pretty good i am – and not immodest at all!). I hope that its a great day and some fantastic new talent emerges from the MLF. As a former Aboriginal employee of Propelarts (and as Big Kev would’ve concurred), “I’m excited!!”
